The Real Weddings of Adorn Strings: Sage & Troy

Photography by Phoebe Powell

When my husband and I married in late 2020, recently lifted lockdown restrictions forced us to distil our guest list down to only 10 people; our immediate family, celebrant and photographer. My friends and colleagues at Adorn Strings couldn’t play me down the aisle like I had dreamed. However, a few days before our wedding, my brother-in-law kindly learnt a song on the guitar called ‘To Whom It May Concern’ by The Civil Wars, which he played for that special moment.

Three months after we officially tied the knot, Troy and and I were able to hold the ceremony and reception we had initially planned, and invite everyone who couldn’t attend our official wedding… including Adorn Strings. After performing as a wedding musician for so many years, I was so grateful to finally experience their beautiful music as a bride!

I have a sweet spot for the wistful and romantic melodies found in European folk music. My husband is also a classically trained cellist, with a great love of cinematic instrumental music. We wanted the music in our ceremony to be a reflection of those qualities, and to fit in with the nature surrounding us. For us, music is all about the way it makes you feel, expressing what words cannot.

Ceremony Music

Processional - Ljósið by Ólafur Arnalds

Interlude - Waltz After Lasse In Lyby by Danish String Quartet

Recessional - Hoppípola by Sigur Ros
